Our Holistic Approach: Strong, Smart, and Bold

At Girls Inc., we are committed to providing a comprehensive and holistic approach to empower girls to become confident, independent, and successful individuals. Our programming is centered around three core values: Strong, Smart, and Bold.

Strong: Healthy Living

Focus: Physical Health, Mental Well-being, and Self-Care

Our Strong programs aim to promote overall health and well-being. We encourage girls to adopt healthy habits, understand the importance of physical activity, and take care of their mental health.

Physical Health: Through sports, fitness activities, and nutrition education, we teach girls the value of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Activities include team sports, yoga, dance, and fitness challenges.

Mental Well-being: We provide resources and activities that support mental health, such as stress management workshops, mindfulness exercises, and access to counseling services.

Self-Care: Girls learn about personal hygiene, healthy relationships, and body positivity. We also address important topics like substance abuse prevention and reproductive health education.

Smart: Academic Enrichment and STEM

Focus: Education, Critical Thinking, and Lifelong Learning

Our Smart programs are designed to foster a love of learning, enhance academic skills, and encourage girls to pursue their educational goals.

STEM Education: We offer hands-on activities and projects in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in our brand new Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation STEM Center!

Academic Support: We provide homework help, tutoring, and test preparation to ensure academic success. Our programs also include literacy initiatives and individualized tutoring incorporated with the WCPS Lexia program.

Critical Thinking: Girls develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and creativity through engaging activities.

Bold: Leadership and Life Skills

Focus: Confidence, Leadership, and Community Engagement

Our Bold programs aim to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and encourage girls to take active roles in their communities.

Leadership Training: Girls participate in leadership workshops, public speaking training, and mentorship programs. We offer opportunities to lead projects, join student councils, and participate in leadership conferences.

Life Skills: We teach essential life skills such as financial literacy, goal setting, time management, and career exploration. Girls learn about budgeting, saving, and planning for their futures.

Community Engagement: We encourage girls to become active citizens and make a positive impact in their communities. Activities include community service projects, advocacy campaigns, and environmental initiatives. Our high schoolers are encouraged to participate in our Youth Advisory Board  partnership with the Washington County Health Department.

Girls Inc. programs are proven to make a lasting impact on participants’ lives. Our holistic approach ensures that girls are well-rounded, confident, and prepared to face any challenge. By focusing on these three core values, we empower girls to become strong, smart, and bold individuals who will lead and succeed in all aspects of life.
